Laurent Godard

For each one of us, there exists a place a world where we belong.

This world is self-created and evolves based on our interpretations of both personal and collective experiences and emotions. The works of Laurent Godard is based on a world like that. His painting comes from a need to create and to define. By primarily painting portraits, he started putting everything in forms, and studied characters that impressed and shaped his subconscious. The absence of any physical backdrop in his paintings, give his work a certain sense of emptiness, like his characters; floating in a world of incomprehension yet still full of sensitivity and poetry.
